A magnitude 3.1 earthquake near Lubin, Lubin County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland, was reported only 2 minutes ago by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity worldwide. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 4. km beneath the epicenter late at night on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, at 11:27 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Polkowice (pop. 21,600) located 5 km from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Lubin (pop. 77,500) located 9 km from the epicenter, Glogow (pop. 67,300) 22 km away, and Legnica (pop. 106,000) 29 km away. In Zlotoryja (pop. 15,600, 41 km away), Boleslawiec (pop. 40,700, 45 km away), Nowa Sol (pop. 40,400, 47 km away), Jawor (pop. 23,900, 47 km away), and Wroclaw (pop. 634,900, 75
