Just 6 minutes ago, a 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Teluk Dalam, Kabupaten Nias Selatan, North Sumatra, Indonesia. The tremor was recorded in the afternoon on Monday, December 15th, 2025, at 4:06 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 11. km below the surface.
The event was filed by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 4.7 earthquake as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Teluk Dalam (pop. 25,800) located 90 km from the epicenter.
