An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred in the evening on Wednesday, September 10th, 2025, at 8:26 pm local time near Pelabuhanratu, Kabupaten Sukabumi, Jawa Barat, Indonesia, as reported by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency.
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a moderately shallow depth of 31. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Pelabuhanratu (pop. 109,500) located 58 km from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Sukabumi (pop. 360,600) located 72 km from the epicenter, Cicurug (pop. 89,000) 81 km away, Caringin (pop. 91,800) 90 km away, Banjar (pop. 201,000) 93 km away, and Cianjur (pop. 174,600) 93 km away.
