* WHAT…Large breaking waves of 8 to 11 feet and dangerous rip currents. * WHERE…North facing reefs of the Marianas. * WHEN…Until 6 AM ChST Monday. * IMPACTS…Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Long-period northerly swell emanating from Tropical Storm Neoguri is producing 8 to 11 foot surf along north facing reefs of the Marianas. An increase in swell magnitude and period may allow surf to build an additional foot or two over the weekend.

Winds are expected to shift to the south late morning to early afternoon. * WHERE…Ketchikan Gateway Borough and Annette Island. * WHEN…From 7 AM to 7 PM AKDT Friday. * IMPACTS…High winds will blow around unsecured objects and may damage property and cause power outages. Travel will be difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Several wind gusts near or exceeding 60 mph have been reported on southern Prince of Wales Island, Ketchikan area, and Annette Island. Winds are expected to shift to the south in the next couple of hours, then areas on the South Tongass Highway

* WHAT…East winds around 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected. * WHERE…City and Borough of Sitka. * WHEN…From 10 AM to 7 PM AKDT Friday. * IMPACTS…High winds will blow around unsecured objects and may damage property and cause power outages. Travel will be difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Sitka has the highest uncertainty for high winds. The greatest chance for high winds exceeding 60 mph will be associated with the easterly winds on the prilimary front. With the low track moving near Cape Edgecombe, there is the possibility that winds may make a strong shift to the Southwest. Stay tuned for updates.
