A combination of dry and windy conditions will create an elevated risk of wildfire spread across portions of northeastern PA today. Minimum relative humidity will dip into the 30s percent range and strong wind gusts between 20 to 30 mph are also expected this afternoon. Residents are urged to exercise caution if handling any potential ignition sources, such as machinery, cigarettes, or matches. If dry grasses and tree litter ignite, the fire will have the potential to spread rapidly. There is an elevated risk for fire spread this afternoon in New Jersey, Delaware, and eastern Pennsylvania. Minimum humidity values will fall to between 20 and 30 percent. This will be combined with northwesterly winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to around 35 mph. These conditions along with the continued drying of the fine fuels will support the rapid spread of any fires that ignite, which could quickly become difficult to control.
