Professor Salary Range: $ 130,000-140,000 per academic year. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers Open in Davidson, Dyer and Wilson Counties

Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers are now open in Davidson, Dyer and Wilson counties to assist Tennesseans who experienced damage or loss from the April 2-24 severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding. 

The following recovery centers will temporarily close on Friday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.

Davidson County: Nashville Looby Public Library, 2301 Rosa L. Parks Blvd., Nashville, TN 37228
Hours: 8 a.m.–6 p.m. CT Tuesday-Saturday; open until Saturday, July 5Dyer County: Bogota Community Center, 78 Sandy Lane, Bogota, TN 38007
Hours: 8 a.m.–6 p.m. CT Tuesday-Sunday; open until Sunday, July 6Wilson County: Wilson County Fair Grounds, 945 E. Baddour Pkwy., Lebanon, TN 37087
Hours: 8 a.m.–6 p.m. CT Tuesday-Sunday; open until Sunday, July 6

When any of the above recovery centers move to a new location or a new recovery center opens, details will be provided to the public. To find a center near you, visit fema.gov/drc.

Homeowners and renters in Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Dyer, Hardeman, McNairy, Montgomery, Obion and Wilson counties can apply for FEMA assistance at a recovery center. FEMA representatives will help with applications for federal assistance and provide information about other disaster recovery resources. 

FEMA financial assistance may include money for basic home repairs or other uninsured, disaster-related needs, such as childcare, vehicle, medical needs, funeral expenses or the replacement of personal property.

Award information

The anticipated funding amount is $600,000 to $800,000 per fiscal year (1 October through 30 September), pending availability of funds.

Project budgets should be developed at scales appropriate for the work to be conducted. Proposal budgets cannot exceed $25,000 in direct costs for the entire duration of the award. Indirect costs are in addition to this direct cost amount and are subject to the awardee’s current federally negotiated indirect cost rate. The maximum project duration is 24 months.

The proposer may concurrently submit a doctoral dissertation proposal to other funding organizations. Please indicate this in the “Current and Pending (Other) Support” section of the NSF proposal, so that NSF may coordinate funding with the other organizations. 

Estimated number of awards description –

It is anticipated that 25 to 40 DDRIG awards will be made per fiscal year.

PhD Positions at the University of Ottawa

Position Overview: Dr. Nan Chen currently has multiple PhD positions for Fall 2026 or Winter 2027 in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Ottawa.

The candidate should have a background in at least two of the following topics:

Electric vehicle modelling in smart grid (mobility modelling, demand response, etc.); Power system analysis (optimal/stochastic power flow analysis, economic dispatch, etc.); Resource allocation in 5G/6G communication (edge computing, digital twin modelling, network slicing, etc.); Stochastic process (Markov chain, queueing theory, etc.); Optimization techniques (convex, NLP, MINLP, etc.); Emerging machine learning techniques and applications in power engineering or wireless networks.
