The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Lafayette College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning July 2026. This full-time position entails a teaching load equivalent to three courses per semester. We seek dynamic, inclusive educators who are passionate about offering engaging, hands-on courses. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering or a related field by the start of the appointment and demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and to engaging students in hands-on experimental learning and research. Teaching responsibilities will include Electronics and Instrumentation to support the curricula of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and the Robotics and Bioengineering tracks of Lafayette’s Integrative Engineering Program, with preference given to candidates who can also contribute

Scientists built a tiny clock from single-electron jumps to probe the true energy cost of quantum timekeeping. They discovered that reading the clock’s output requires vastly more energy than the clock uses to function. This measurement process also drives the irreversibility that defines time’s forward direction. The insight could push researchers to rethink how quantum devices handle information.
