In western Virginia, Augusta and City of Waynesboro. * WHEN…Until 1030 PM EDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS… – At 426 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. – Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area.

Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. – Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. – Some locations that will experience flooding include… Bedford, Heltonville, Norman and Bartlettsville. –

At 424 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Dewitt, or 7 miles east of Barbourville, moving northeast at 10 mph. HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include… Barbourville, Sandy Fork, Artemus, Brightshade, Swan Lake, Barnyard, Salt Gum, Beverly, Goose Rock, Erose, Jarvis, Blanche, Girdler, Rella, Ice Cliff, Avis, Dewitt, Flat Lick, Himyar, and Walker.
