A magnitude 3.4 earthquake near Kununurra, Wyndham-East Kimberley, Western Australia, Australia, was reported only 13 minutes ago by Geoscience Australia (GeoAu), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in Australia. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 4.2 miles beneath the epicenter late at night on Monday, October 13th, 2025, at 11:59 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 3.4 as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.4.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Lake Argyle (pop. 670) located 3 miles from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Kununurra (pop. 6,800) located 20 miles from the epicenter.

If you felt it, report it through our site or app right
