At 1207 AM MDT/107 AM CDT/, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 11 miles south of Tribune, moving north at 15 mph. HAZARD…Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and nickel size hail. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible. This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of southwestern Wichita and southeastern Greeley Counties.

A magnitude 2.8 earthquake near Star Valley Ranch, Lincoln County, Wyoming, USA, was reported 33 minutes ago by the United States Geological Survey, considered the key international and national agency that monitors seismic activity in the US. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 8.4 miles beneath the epicenter late at night on Friday, July 11th, 2025, at 11:30 pm local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
A second report was later issued by The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), which listed it as a magnitude 2.8 earthquake as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 2.8.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Star Valley Ranch (pop. 1,500) located 2 miles from the epicenter. In Afton (pop. 2,000, 19 miles away), Hoback (pop. 1,200, 21 miles away), South Park (pop. 1,700, 30 miles away), Rafter J Ranch (pop. 1,100, 30 miles away), Jackson (pop. 10,500, 35 miles away), Conda (pop. 21,300, 35 miles away), and Moose Wilson Road (pop. 1,800, 37 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.

Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. – Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. – Some locations that will experience flooding
