Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE…Madison, Northern Oneida, Onondaga, and Southern Oneida Counties. * WHEN…Until 7 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Snowfall rates up to 2.5 inches per hour are expected in the heaviest lake effect snow band this afternoon and evening.

* WHAT…The South Coast AQMD has issued a mandatory wood-burning ban for residents in the South Coast Air Basin. The No-Burn rule bans burning wood, pellets, and manufactured fire logs in any indoor or outdoor wood-burning device. * WHERE…The South Coast Air Basin, which includes Orange County and non-desert portions of Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties. No-Burn Day alerts do not apply to areas above 3,000 feet in elevation, the Coachella Valley, or the High Desert. HAZARDS…A lake effect snow band which can rapidly reduce visibility to less than a quarter of a mile. LOCATION AND MOVEMENT…At 855 AM EST, a lake effect snow band was over Glenville, or near Amsterdam moving east at 50 MPH. THIS LAKE EFFECT SNOW BAND WILL BE NEAR… Glenville and Pattersonville-Rotterdam Junction around 900 AM EST. East Glenville and Burnt Hills around 905 AM EST. Round Lake and Country Knolls around 910 AM EST. Mechanicville around 915 AM EST. Hoosick Falls around 940 AM EST. Bennington around 950 AM EST.
