Moderate yet deep earthquake of magnitude 5.3 just reported 66 km northwest of Sola, VanuatuThe European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 5.3 quake in Vanuatu near Sola, Torba Province, only 8 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early evening on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025, at 7:19 pm local time at an intermediate to considerable depth of 215.20 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), which listed it as a magnitude 5.2 earthquake.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Sola (pop. 1,200) located 66 km from the epicenter.
