The Department of Civil Engineering at Stony Brook University (SBU) invites applications from outstanding faculty candidates for a full-time tenure-track Associate Professor position with research interests in the area of offshore wind energy. Preference factors

Experience in research projects.

Maintenance stipend: € 1259,64, according to the table of monthly maintenance stipend for FCT grants , paid via bank transfer. Grant holders may be awarded potential supplements, according to a quarterly evaluation process (Articles 19, 21 and 22 of the Regulations for Grants of INESC TEC and Annex II), up to a maximum limit of 50% of the monthly maintenance stipend.

The work aims to apply coherent optical systems in submarine communication cables, leveraging phase and polarization information from transmitted signals for distributed sensing purposes. The goal is to use these techniques for the detection and monitoring of geophysical phenomena, taking advantage of the existing optical cable infrastructure as a large-scale sensor network.

Academic Qualifications

Degree in Electrical Engineering or Physical Engineering and attending a master’s degree in the same area.
