An earthquake of magnitude 3.2 occurred only 19 minutes ago 2 km northeast of Ruda Slaska, Poland, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 1. km beneath the epicenter near Ruda Slaska, Ruda Śląska, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland, early morning on Tuesday, October 14th, 2025, at 4:13 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 3.2 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Ruda Slaska (pop. 146,200) located 2 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Swietochlowice (pop. 55,600) located 4 km from the epicenter, Chorzow (pop. 113,400) 8 km away, Zabrze (pop. 192,200) 8 km away, Bytom (pop. 189,200) 9 km away, and Katowice (pop. 317,300) 11 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter
