An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 occurred only 5 minutes ago 94 km northeast of Masohi, Indonesia, Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10. km beneath the epicenter near Masohi, Kabupaten Maluku Tengah, Maluku, Indonesia, around noon on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, at 1:03 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Masohi (pop. 36,400) located 94 km from the epicenter, and Amahai (pop. 47,700) 101 km away.
