A magnitude 5.7 earthquake near Dededo Village, Dededo, Guam, was reported only 9 minutes ago by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity worldwide. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10. km beneath the epicenter early afternoon on Sunday, August 10th, 2025, at 2:56 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), which listed it as a magnitude 5.8 earthquake.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Yigo Village (pop. 20,500) located 95 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Dededo Village (pop. 44,900) located 99 km from the epicenter, Mangilao Village (pop. 15,200) 100 km away, Yona Village (pop. 6,500) 101 km away, Barrigada Village (pop. 8,900) 101 km away, Mongmong-Toto-Maite Village (pop. 6,800) 103 km away, Tamuning-Tumon-Harmon Village
