The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 2.4 quake in the United States near Fontana, San Bernardino County, California, only 9 minutes ago. The earthquake hit late at night on Thursday, December 18th, 2025, at 11:54 pm local time at a shallow depth of 8.5 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), which listed it as a magnitude 2.7 earthquake. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 2.5.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Fontana (pop. 212,700, 2 miles away), Rialto (pop. 103,100, 4 miles away), Bloomington (pop. 23,900, 4 miles away), Colton (pop. 54,600, 7 miles away), San Bernardino (pop. 216,100, 8 miles away), Rancho Cucamonga (pop. 175,200, 9 miles away), Riverside (pop. 317,300, 11 miles away), Ontario (pop. 171,200, 13 miles away), and Anaheim (pop. 350,700, 34 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.

If you felt it, report it through our
