The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 3.2 quake in Poland near Glogow, Głogów County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, only 15 minutes ago. The earthquake hit around noon on Thursday, June 5th, 2025, at 1:57 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 2. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Pęcław (pop. 500) located 2 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Glogow (pop. 67,300) located 10 km from the epicenter.

An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 occurred in the evening on Thursday, June 5th, 2025, at 9:56 pm local time near Kimbe, Talasea District, West New Britain Province, Papua New Guinea, as reported by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at an intermediate depth of 124. km. The strength of the earthquake may have been tempered by its relative great depth below the surface, which makes it feel weaker in absolute terms. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), which listed it as a magnitude 5.0 earthquake. A third agency, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, reported the same quake at magnitude 5.0.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Kimbe (pop. 18,800) located 17 km from the epicenter, and Kandrian (pop. 1000) 83 km away.
VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other
