A moderately shallow magnitude 4.9 earthquake was reported around noon near Pondaguitan, Davao Oriental, Davao, Philippines.
According to Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the quake hit on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025, at 12:14 pm local time at a moderately shallow depth of 45. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 4.9 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Pondaguitan (pop. 2,100) located 103 km from the epicenter, and Caburan (pop. 12,600) 112 km away.

Beach equipment, such as umbrellas and chairs, could be moved by waves. Vehicles driving along narrow beaches may experience higher water levels. Elevated water levels may also occur across the Laguna Madre and South Bay, and along State Highway 4 west of Boca Chica State Park. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Coastal flooding will be most impactful in the hours leading into and out of high tide cycles, such as 2:39 AM tonight and 4:56 PM Tuesday afternoon.
