Just 6 minutes ago, a 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Piedecuesta, Departamento de Santander, Colombia. The tremor was recorded early evening on Thursday, September 25th, 2025, at 7:21 pm local time, at an intermediate depth of 147.90 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, the first seismological agency to report it.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Jordan (pop. 110) located 13 km from the epicenter, Piedecuesta (pop. 163,400) 16 km away, Floridablanca (pop. 267,600) 24 km away, Giron (pop. 108,500) 26 km away, Bucaramanga (pop. 581,100) 31 km away, San Gil (pop. 46,200) 32 km away, Malaga (pop. 19,900) 42 km away, and Socorro (pop. 30,000) 46 km away.

At 824 PM EDT/724 PM CDT/, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Eglin Air Force Base, or 12 miles northeast of Niceville, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include… Santa Rosa Beach, De Funiak Springs, Eglin Air Force Base, Freeport, Ponce De Leon, Westville, Oakwood Hills, Portland, Alpine Heights, Villa Tasso, De Funiak Spring Airport, Seaside, Rock Hill, Pleasant Ridge, Knox Hill, Bunker, Grayton Beach, Argyle, Mossy Head, and Red Bay.
