SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include… Sturgis, Lead, Summerset, Deadwood, Whitewood, Piedmont, Saint Onge, Central City, Tilford, Galena, Bear Butte State Park, Apple Springs, and Fort Meade. This includes Interstate 90 in South Dakota between Mile Markers 17 and 47.

Just 30 minutes ago, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Managua, Departamento de Managua, Nicaragua. The tremor was recorded in the evening on Friday, August 1st, 2025, at 9:54 pm local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 48. km below the surface.
The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in El Rosario (pop. 3,000) located 26 km from the epicenter, San Rafael del Sur (pop. 29,800) 33 km away, and Diriamba (pop. 35,000) 41 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include San Marcos (pop. 23,300) located 47 km from the epicenter, Nandaime (pop. 20,800) 48 km away, Managua (pop. 973,100) 68 km away, Rivas (pop. 30,000) 68 km away, Ciudad Sandino (pop. 50,000) 69 km away, Mateare (pop. 61,200) 76 km away, and Leon (pop. 144,500) 110 km away.
