An earthquake of magnitude 3.1 occurred in the morning on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, at 7:19 am local time near Bijapur, Bijāpur District, State of Karnataka, India, as reported by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a very shallow depth of 5. km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 3.1 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Bijapur (pop. 271,100) located 10 km from the epicenter. In Indi (pop. 34,100, 37 km away), Basavana Bagevadi (pop. 30,800, 44 km away), Sindgi (pop. 33,800, 52 km away), Jamkhandi (pop. 61,700, 66 km away), and Athni (pop. 42,000, 76 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
