At 129 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms developing along a line extending from near Pinon Hills to near Lake Palmdale. Movement was north at 5 mph. HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph. Locally heavy rain and lightning. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include… Lake Los Angeles… Acton… Palmdale… Pearblossom… Llano… Littlerock… Lake Palmdale… Valyermo… Desert View Highlands… and Highway 138 between Llano and the San Bernardino County line.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.7 occurred 38 minutes ago 47 km north of Bislig, Philippines, the United States Geological Survey reported.
The quake hit at an intermediate depth of 79.72 km beneath the epicenter near Bislig, Surigao del Sur, Caraga, Philippines, early morning on Wednesday, August 27th, 2025, at 3:45 am local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
A second report was later issued by The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), which listed it as a magnitude 4.7 earthquake as well. Other agencies reporting the same quake include Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency at magnitude 4.4, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 4.7, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 5.0, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 5.0, France’s Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS) at magnitude 5.0, and the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) at magnitude 4.6.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Gamut (pop. 3,500) located 13 km from the epicenter.

HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 40 mph, pea size hail and heavy rainfall. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include… Gulnare.
