A very shallow magnitude 3.7 earthquake was reported around noon near Hilo, Hawaii County, Hawaii, USA.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake hit on Thursday, September 25th, 2025, at 12:21 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 4.1 miles. A second report was later issued by The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), which listed it as a magnitude 3.8 earthquake. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.8.

Weak shaking might have been felt in Volcano (pop. 2,600) located 9 miles from the epicenter, and Fern Forest (pop. 1,200) 12 miles away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Eden Roc (pop. 1,400) located 14 miles from the epicenter, Mountain View (pop.
