The Alan Levin Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering (MNE) at Kansas State University (K-State) invites applications from individuals with a background in nuclear materials for a tenure-track faculty position with the rank of assistant professor (preferred) or associate professor (considered in exceptional cases). Required qualifications include a doctorate in nuclear engineering, materials science and engineering, or a closely related field. Desired qualifications include expertise in nuclear materials, including state-of-the art computational modeling and materials characterization methods, and an established record of obtaining extramural funding and publishing in areas of research relevant for developing and deploying advanced nuclear power (e.g., nuclear fuel development, nuclear waste management, radiation effects on materials, nanomaterials for nuclear, and radiation processing) and advancing human health by improving medical diagnostic imaging and radiation therapies. However, applicants with backgrounds in any area related to advanced nuclear reactor enabling technologies will be considered.
