The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 3.6 quake in Bangladesh near Dhaka, Dhaka Division, only 18 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the afternoon on Thursday, November 27th, 2025, at 4:15 pm local time at a shallow depth of 10. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 3.6 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Purbachal American City (pop. 16) located 12 km from the epicenter, and Narsingdi (pop. 281,100) 12 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Gazipur (pop. 2,674,700) located 20 km from the epicenter, Tungi (pop. 337,600) 21 km away, Bhatara (pop. 324,300) 21 km away, Kafrul (pop. 339,700) 28 km away, Paltan (pop. 184,500) 29 km away, Nagar Naluakot (pop. 273,000) 31
