An earthquake of magnitude 2.8 occurred only 10 minutes ago 7 miles southeast of Goodlands, Western Australia, Australia, Geoscience Australia (GeoAu) reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 3.1 miles beneath the epicenter near Goodlands, Dalwallinu, Western Australia, Australia, early afternoon on Thursday, October 9th, 2025, at 2:43 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Goodlands (pop. 45) located 7 miles from the epicenter. In Mollerin (pop. 27, 28 miles away), Cleary (pop. 16, 28 miles away), Kalannie (pop. 180, 30 miles away), and Beacon (pop. 170, 36 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
