An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred only 6 minutes ago 80 km east of Teluk Dalam, Indonesia, Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 12. km beneath the epicenter near Teluk Dalam, Kabupaten Nias Selatan, North Sumatra, Indonesia, in the morning on Sunday, August 31st, 2025, at 8:14 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Teluk Dalam (pop. 25,800) located 80 km from the epicenter.
