A very shallow magnitude 2.4 earthquake was reported in the evening near Granada, Andalusia, Spain.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the quake hit on Sunday, October 26th, 2025, at 9:10 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 3.20 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Albolote (pop. 17,100) located 3 km from the epicenter, Atarfe (pop. 15,400) 4 km away, Maracena (pop. 20,800) 6 km away, Santafe (pop. 15,400) 9 km away, and Granada (pop. 234,300) 9 km away. In Armilla (pop. 21,400, 13 km away), Las Gabias (pop. 16,400, 13 km away), and Zubia (pop. 19,000, 17 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
