A magnitude 2.8 earthquake near Booralaming, Koorda, Western Australia, Australia, was reported 31 minutes ago by Geoscience Australia (GeoAu), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in Australia. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 5.9 miles beneath the epicenter early morning on Monday, August 11th, 2025, at 4:23 am local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 2.8 as well. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 2.8, and the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 2.8.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Booralaming (pop. 12) located 8 miles from the epicenter, and Benjaberring (pop. 15) 11 miles away. In Minnivale (pop. 38, 13 miles away), Wyalkatchem (pop. 400, 14 miles away), Koorda (pop. 260, 15 miles away), Cadoux (pop. 65, 18 miles away), Koomberkine (pop. 70, 19 miles away), and Dowerin (pop. 450, 22 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
