A dry air mass moves into the area behind a departing cold front on Sunday. With warm temperatures remaining in place, relative humidity values will drop into the 20 to 25 percent range across the North Carolina foothills and Piedmont. Northwest wind gusts to around 25 mph will continue into the afternoon as well. The combination of low relative humidity and gusty winds will lead to Increased Fire Danger across these areas. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
