4.2 quake India: Mahesana, Gujarat, Nov 15, 2024 10:15 pm (GMT +5:30)
A magnitude 4.2 earthquake near Pātan, Patan, Gujarat, India, was reported only 14 minutes ago by India’s National Center for Seismology (NCS), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter in the evening on Friday, November 15th, 2024, at 9:45 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Chānasma (pop. 15,600) located 19 km from the epicenter, Pātan (pop. 117,900) 23 km away, Visnagar (pop. 68,600) 26 km away, Vadnagar (pop. 24,800) 36 km away, and Kherālu (pop. 20,800) 38 km away.
