Work description

Development of workflows and methods enabling AI testing to support the safe operation of local energy communities and microgrids. Develop methodologies for assessing the robustness and safety of AI-based decision and control systems, considering risk assessment aligned with the EU AI Act. Validate the developed methodologies on real data and with real consumers/prosumers. Dissemination of the work in international journals and/or conferences.

Minimum profile required

Previous academic background in or electrical engineering or applied mathematics or computer science or informatics or similar.

Preference factors

Past experience (or academic background) with machine learning. Academic background in energy systems. Programming knowledge in Python.

Job summary: 

INESC TEC is inviting for applications for a Technical Staff in the field of Management Support, more specifically with responsibilities in the field of Information Management. 

Key responsabilities: 

Coordination and execution of information management activities in the areas of science management, scientific publications and research data management, repository management, and knowledge management.  Production of scientometric indicators, development and implementation of policies on open science, publishing, metadata, information organization and access.  Development of knowledge management tools.  Institutional representation before entities managing curriculum systems, publication and data aggregators, and identifier providers, as well as coordination and participation in similar initiatives within entities of which INESC TEC is a member, particularly in the field of information management and related areas. 

Minimmum requirements and qualifications: 

PhD in the field of Information Science or equivalent, with experience or a scientific track record compatible with the category of junior researcher. 

Preferential factors:

Participation in research and development projects in information management within the scope of Science management.

Selection process: 

Consisting of two phases, the first involves a Curriculum Assessment (CA) and the second an Individual Interview (IE). All parameters are assessed on a scale of 0 to 100, considering merit, suitability and preference factors. 

The CA parameters and their respective weights are:

Professional Experience (PE, 20%): Years of relevant experience in the field (10%); Relevance of previous positions (10%). Academic Background (AF, 40%): Highest academic degree obtained (20%); Relevance of courses to the position (20%). Additional Certifications and Qualifications (CQ, 40%): Additional certifications/training relevant to the position (10%); Verification of preference factors (30%).

 Candidates with AC < 50 are excluded on absolute merit. The best five candidates who are not excluded. The best five candidates who are not excluded on absolute merit are called for the EI. The Final classification (FC) is obtained from the AC (80%) and the EI (20%). 

Notification of results

The results of the selection process will be communicated to interested parties by email. 

Disability bonus: 

Candidates with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 90% will have a bonus of 20 points in the Curricular Assessment score. 

Candidates with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 60% and less than 90% will have a bonus of 10 points in the Curricular Assessment score. In these cases, the bonus score for the Curricular Assessment may exceed 100 points. 

The degree of incapacity must be proven by submitting a Medical Certificate of Multipurpose Incapacity when applying.

Software Engineering and API Development for Power Systems

Work description

The work focuses on the development and integration of software components within the NEXUS project. Core activities include the design and implementation of APIs for several tools, such as grid operation, load forecasting, PV and wind forecasting, and load simulator.

The tasks also cover server deployment, the development of an intuitive and dynamic dashboard, and ensuring seamless interaction between the APIs and the NEXUS platform. The activities also include coordinating the work with the in-fabric software team of the Centre for Power and Energy Systems (CPES). Additionally, the role involves simulation, testing, and validation, as well as preparing technical documentation, reports, and scientific publications.
