The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Vanderbilt University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, to begin in Fall 2026. We are seeking outstanding candidates whose research lies within a core area of mechanical engineering—including but not limited to dynamics and control, robotics, thermofluid sciences, materials, and manufacturing. The ideal candidate’s expertise should complement and enhance existing departmental research strengths. Broadly, the candidate’s work may align with one of the department’s two tracks: robotics or thermofluids. Candidates should have a strong theoretical foundation and a clear vision for applying fundamental mechanical engineering principles to address major societal challenges in national defense and space engineering. KU Leuven has a vacancy at Campus De Nayer for a full-time professor in Intelligent Software, advanced software that combines machine learning and knowledge-based inference. We are looking for internationally oriented candidates with both educational competence and a solid research record in computer science that have extensive expertise in the domain of the vacancy.

The successful applicant will be appointed in the Faculty of Engineering Technology, which offers academic, implementation-oriented engineering programs at six campuses across Flanders. The main teaching duties will be situated at Campus De Nayer, Sint-Katelijne-Waver. This position is an appointment in the Department of Computer Science. The new professor is expected to collaborate with the AI researchers of the EAVISE Group at Campus De Nayer.

A Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) in Computer Science with at least four (4) years of lecturing and/or industrial experience and/or an equivalent combination of relevant professional experience. Excellent English communication skills (oral and written). Competence to teach at least three (3) of the following courses: Distributed Systems and Applications, Compiler Techniques, Formal Methods, and Artificial Intelligence. Competence to establish professional networks and to maintain links with the industry, as well as experience in developing undergraduate programmes. Competence in online teaching, learning and assessments would be a recommendation. A credible record of lecturing, peer-reviewed publications, community engagement, supervision of students (research) undergraduate level, as well as a relevant Doctorate will be an advantage.
