Postdoctoral Research Associate Post Doctorate Research Opportunity Multifunctional Materials Modeling and Experimental Characterization

Florida Center for Advanced Aero-Propulsion (FCAAP) Florida A&M—Florida State University (FAMU-FSU) College of Engineering Department of Mechanical Engineering Tallahassee, FL 32310

A post doctorate research opportunity is currently available in the Mechanical Engineering Department and the Florida Center for Advanced Aero Propulsion (FCAAP) at the joint FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. The researcher will work within an interdisciplinary group at FAMU-FSU and the University of Florida through a Center of Excellence on Sense, Assess, Respond for high speed aircraft. https://fcaap.fsu.edu/aeromorph/

The research is focused on the application of information theory and applied mechanics to understand dynamical complexity in multifunctional materials and adaptive structures interacting with high speed fluid flow. It includes applying relationships between multifractal spatial and temporal structure with properties in physical reservoir computers that interact with fluid dynamics. It builds

We are searching for a motivated postdoc interested in investigating how soil-plant-atmosphere interactions are affected by agrivoltaics, i.e., the combination of crop production and solar panels. The postdoc will develop mathematical models based on biophysical processes, in combination with available data. The postdoc will also contribute to a literature synthesis on ecosystem services in agrivoltaic systems.

About the position

Agrivoltaics, if carefully designed, have the potential to provide photovoltaic energy as well as other ecosystem services, including food production and biodiversity support. At the same time, solar panels alter the crop growing conditions, so that crops in agrivoltaics are affected by climatic conditions differently compared with those in open fields.

The postdoc will explore advantages and disadvantages of a range of agrivoltaic designs on crop activity, crop vulnerability to detrimental climatic conditions, and in general ecosystem services. The postdoc will develop and use mechanistic

About the role

We are delighted to have the opportunity to recruit to two new academic positions in the Department of Aeronautics. Our department prides itself on hosting and nurturing highly talented academics and we welcome applications from all candidates working at the cutting edge of their fields of choice. For this reason, the level and exact discipline of the post has been left open and the appointments will therefore be made dependent on your experience at the level of Lecturer (Assistant Professor), Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor), Reader (Associate Professor) or Professor.

What you would be doing

You will develop a broad range of research in your discipline, leading or contributing to a research area at the highest scientifically rigorous levels. You will apply for research funding and manage the resources (including where relevant a research team) of successful grants.

You will teach and
