Stromboli (Eolian Islands, Italy): (6 Oct) Another short-lived lava overflow occurred yesterday afternoon and evening from the northern crater.
Since 15:05 local time on 5 Oct 2026, the volcano observatory (INGV Catania) reported that a new lava flow had started to descend on the upper Sciara del Fuoco area. At the same time, the normal strombolian activity continued from both crater areas without major changes. The effusive activity can thus be seen as an indication that the magma column had risen to the point that it overflowed the vent.
