A magnitude 6.0 earthquake off the Pacific coast of El Salvador and Guatemala occurred yesterday. It was centered about 81 km southwest of Acajutla and 107 km south‑southeast of Puerto San José. While widely felt, no significant damage or injuries have been reported (Associated Press).

Seismic activity in Texas and nearby New Mexico has largely calmed down. Over the past 24 hours, only two quakes above magnitude 2 were recorded: a magnitude 2.1 near Malaga, New Mexico (Aug 24, 02:40 am GMT -6), and a magnitude 2.3 near McKinney Acres, Texas (Aug 23, 01:02  am GMT‑5).
