Just 15 minutes ago, a 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck near Santiago, Isabela, Cagayan Valley, Philippines. The tremor was recorded around noon on Sunday, July 13th, 2025, at 12:24 pm local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 30. km below the surface.
The event was filed by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Masaya Sur (pop. 5,500) located 14 km from the epicenter, Aglipay (pop. 30,700) 24 km away, Alicia (pop. 24,700) 30 km away, Santiago (pop. 108,400) 36 km away, Ramon (pop. 36,300) 43 km away, San Mateo (pop. 16,200) 46 km away, and Ilagan (pop. 72,400) 66 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Tuguegarao (pop. 166,300) located 118 km from the epicenter.

Moderate magnitude 4.5 earthquake 34 km southwest of Batangas, PhilippinesThe United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 4.5 quake in the Philippines near Batangas, Calabarzon, 38 minutes ago. The earthquake hit around noon on Sunday, July 13th, 2025, at 12:24 pm local time at an intermediate to considerable depth of 173.99 km. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
A second report was later issued by The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), which listed it as a magnitude 4.5 earthquake as well.
