The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 4.5 quake in the Philippines near Batangas, Calabarzon, 38 minutes ago. The earthquake hit around noon on Sunday, July 13th, 2025, at 12:24 pm local time at an intermediate to considerable depth of 173.99 km. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
A second report was later issued by The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), which listed it as a magnitude 4.5 earthquake as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Odala (pop. 3,000) located 9 km from the epicenter, Bauan (pop. 33,600) 33 km away, Batangas (pop. 237,400) 34 km away, San Pascual (pop. 39,400) 35 km away, Taal (pop. 39,700) 37 km away, Balayan (pop. 50,100) 43 km away, Balayan (pop. 50,100) 43 km away, Rosario (pop. 128,400) 44 km away, and Calamba (pop. 539,700) 81 km away.
