The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) has issued an Air Quality Advisory for elevated levels of fine particulates (PM2.5) across the state of Michigan. Pollutants are expected to be in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (USG, Orange AQI) range with some locations reaching the Unhealthy (Red AQI) range. The Air Quality Advisory is in effect for the following Michigan counties… Midland…Bay…Huron…Saginaw…Tuscola…Sanilac…Shiawassee… Genesee…Lapeer…St. Clair…Livingston…Oakland…Macomb… Washtenaw…Wayne…Lenawee and Monroe. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation at Albany has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for Fine Particulates until midnight EDT tonight. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for Fine Particulates. The Air Quality Index…or AQI…was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value…the greater the health concern.
