At 559 AM MDT, river gauge reports indicated increasing flows along the Mora River from earlier heavy rainfall. Flash flooding may occur on the Mora River between La Cueva, Golondrinas and areas toward Watrous. Of particular concern is where Coyote Creek meets the Mora River just downstream of Golondrinas as Coyote Creek also had a steep rise in water early this morning. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE…Gauges reported. At 558 AM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 0.50 to 0.80 inches of rain fell across the area earlier, and flash flooding is likely ongoing. HAZARD…Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE…Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT…Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, normally dry washes, slot canyons, and slick rock areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include… Zion National Park, Springdale and Rockville. The heaviest rainfall occurred over the Pine Creek and Clear Creek drainages along Highway 9 near the Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel. The Zion Canyon automated weather station has received 0.79 inches since 4 AM.
