The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 4.7 earthquake in the Philippines near Tuguegarao, Cagayan, Cagayan Valley, just 29 minutes ago. The earthquake struck early Wednesday morning, September 30th, 2026, at 4:45 am local time and at a shallow depth of 10. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the earthquake may be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review the data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their reports.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which also listed the earthquake at magnitude 4.7. Other agencies reporting the same earthquake include Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency at magnitude 4.3, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 4.8, the citizen-seismograph network RaspberryShake at magnitude 4.8, and the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) at magnitude 4.6.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the earthquake should not have caused any significant damage but was probably felt by many people as light vibrations in the epicentral area.

A magnitude 4.0 earthquake near Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington, USA, was reported just 3 minutes ago by the United States Geological Survey, considered the key international and national agency monitoring seismic activity in the US. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 5.6 miles beneath the epicenter in the early afternoon on Tuesday, September 29th, 2026, at 2:05 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review the data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their reports.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage but was probably felt by many people as a light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
