A magnitude 3.2 earthquake near Pleasanton, Alameda County, California, USA, was reported only 8 minutes ago by the United States Geological Survey, considered the key international and national agency that monitors seismic activity in the US. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 8.5 miles beneath the epicenter in the morning on Sunday, September 7th, 2025, at 10:03 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.2 as well. A third agency, The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.2.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Pleasanton (pop. 79,500) located 3 miles from the epicenter, Dublin (pop. 57,700) 4 miles away, Livermore (pop. 88,100) 6 miles away, San Ramon (pop. 76,100) 8 miles away, Union City (pop. 74,500) 12 miles away, Hayward (pop. 158,300) 12 miles away, and Fremont (pop. 232,200) 13 miles away.
