Etna (Sicily, Italy): The Istituto Nazionale Geofisica e Vulcanologia Catania reported that another phase of strombolian-type activity occurred last night.
At about 23:00 UTC, incandescent material ejected from the South-East Crater associated with ash emissions dissipated towards the southeast.

Tue, 8 Apr 2025, 20:34 | BY: EARTHQUAKEMONITOR

An earthquake of magnitude 3.6 occurred late at night on Tuesday, April 8th, 2025, at 11:10 pm local time near Argostoli, Kefallonia, Ionian Islands, Greece, as reported by the National Observatory of Athens (NOA).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a very shallow depth of 9.60 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.8 earthquake. Other agencies reporting the same quake include The Seismological Laboratory of the University of Athens (UOA) at magnitude 3.5, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 3.5, and The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Geophysical Lab. (AUTH) at magnitude 3.4.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Athéras (pop. 170) located 4 km from the epicenter, and Lixouri (pop. 3,800) 16 km away.
