Just 12 minutes ago, a 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Port of Spain, City of Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago. The tremor was recorded early evening on Friday, October 24th, 2025, at 7:50 pm local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 54. km below the surface.
The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 5.2 as well. A third agency, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), reported the same quake at magnitude 5.2.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Petit Valley (pop. 8,100) located 12 km from the epicenter, Port of Spain (pop. 49,000) 17 km away, Laventille (pop. 21,000) 20 km away, Tunapuna (pop. 17,800) 29 km away, Paradise (pop. 15,100) 31 km away, Chaguanas (pop. 67,400) 37 km away, and Mon Repos (pop. 56,400) 59 km away.
