Just 9 minutes ago, a 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck near Hirara, Miyakojima Shi, Okinawa, Japan. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Friday, November 21st, 2025, at 8:36 am local time, at an intermediate depth of 121. km below the surface.
The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the first seismological agency to report it.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Hirara (pop. 34,400) located 99 km from the epicenter, and Miyakojima (pop. 54,900) 101 km away.
