An earthquake of magnitude 3.3 occurred early morning on Sunday, April 6th, 2025, at 6:03 am local time near Tbilisi, K’alak’i T’bilisi, Georgia, as reported by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake.
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a very shallow depth of 0. km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Kojori (pop. 1,200) located 4 km from the epicenter, and Tsqnet’i (pop. 4,200) 8 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Tbilisi (pop. 1,049,500) located 15 km from the epicenter, Marneuli (pop. 18,800) 19 km away, Tetri Ts’q’aro (pop. 3,600) 20 km away, Bolnisi (pop. 13,800) 23 km away, Mtskheta (pop. 7,600) 25 km away, Manglisi (pop. 4,800) 26 km away, Rustavi (pop. 130,100) 26 km away, and
