The citizen-seismograph network RaspberryShake reported a magnitude 3.3 quake in Australia near Traralgon, Latrobe (Vic.), Victoria, just 5 minutes ago. The earthquake occurred in the morning on Friday, October 2nd, 2026, at 7:21 am local time, at a shallow depth of 6.2 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review the data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their reports.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as a light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Woodside (pop. 350), located 2 miles from the epicenter, and Yarram (pop. 2,100), 9 miles away. In Rosedale (pop. 1,600, 26 miles away), Churchill (pop. 4,700, 27 miles away), Traralgon (pop. 26,900, 28 miles away), Longford (pop. 1,400, 29 miles away), Morwell (pop. 13,600, 31 miles away), and Sale (pop. 14,300, 32 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
