An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 occurred early morning on Sunday, December 28th, 2025, at 2:26 am local time near Bayambang, Pangasinan, Ilocos, Philippines, as reported by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency.
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at an intermediate to considerable depth of 151. km. The strength of the earthquake may have been tempered by its relative great depth below the surface, which makes it feel weaker in absolute terms. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 4.8 earthquake.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Bogtong (pop. 4,000) located 11 km from the epicenter, Camiling (pop. 39,700) 14 km away, Bayambang (pop. 129,500) 25 km away, Paniqui (pop. 106,200) 32 km away, Calasiao (pop. 100,700) 39 km away, Dagupan (pop. 171,300) 42 km away, Urdaneta (pop. 145,900) 46 km away, Mangaldan (pop. 88,800) 46 km away, and Angeles City (pop. 483,500) 66 km away.
