An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 occurred early morning on Monday, December 8th, 2025, at 3:31 am local time near Antalya, Turkey, as reported by Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 20.80 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from The Seismological Survey of Serbia (SSS) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.5. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 4.3, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 4.4, and the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 4.4.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Beldibi (pop. 3,400) located 6 km from the epicenter, Kemer (pop. 17,300) 19 km away, Antalya (pop. 1,344,000) 21 km away, Muratpasa (pop.

Antalya (20.5 km NE of epicenter) [Map] / Very weak shaking (MMI II) / rattling, vibrating / 2-5 s : I woke up, feeling anxious and dizzy. A couple of minutes later, I felt tremors and noticed that the building was shaking. Five seconds later, the movement stopped, but the dizziness and nausea remained.

Türkiye (11 km NNE of epicenter) [Map] / Weak shaking (MMI III) / both vertical and horizontal swinging / 10-15 s : Wardrobe was swinging, lamps were making noice and noise, bed was shaking so much and after still shaking for around 5 months more
